I was reading the latest blog entry of blogs4God on declining listing a weblog of Howard Dean, a presidential candidate of US, due to the reason that it is not historical Christianity, i.e. he overlooked the sinful nature of mankind by stating that God cannot possibly create sinners, in the circumstances of commenting on homosexuality. Here's the quote from Mr. Dean:
The overwhelming evidence is that there is very significant, substantial genetic component [to homosexuality]. From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality was a sin, he would not have created gay people.
In another word, Howard Dean stated that homosexuality is not a sin because they were created to be homosexual and God cannot possibly create sinners. With the same logic, being greed, envy, malice, adulterous, or rebelling against God by running lives our own way cannot possibly be considered sinful either, because many/all of us were born/created this way. At the end, who can claimed to be sinful if he/she is part of the creation? And then why God bothered to send his one and only son to die and redeem for a bunch of not-so-sinful people? The whole Christianity theology just falls apart when sin is taken out of the picture...
8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.1 John 1:8-10
Well done to blogs4God and Peter Dean for making this stand.
