Here is the list of world's 200 tallest buildings, and at the point of writing, Sydney has won places at 102 (Chifley Tower), 103 (Citigroup Centre), 156 (MLC Centre) and 160 (Governer Philip Tower). Well. Not very impressive, isn't it? Especially consider that for the top 10 on the list, 5 of them bear the flag of China, if you include Hong Kong and exclude Taiwan.
And on the 9th of October 2003, Taipei 101 has officially became the tallest building in the world, standing at 509.2 metres above the ground, surpassing the previous record holder Petronas Tower 1 & 2 at KL. It just sounds scary to me to have such a high tower in Taiwan, which has been affected by the earth quake over the last few years. But I guess the architect would have to design something that is suitable to Taiwan's geographical position.
