Still Being Assemled...

Being Assembled

Waiting... Waiting... Waiting...

Ordered the 900Mhz iBook with 128 Mb of RAM, 40Gb of HDD and Airport on 22nd of April, when the updated iBook just came out. I made my order through the Apple Store - it is my very first Mac purchase. Yeah!

However, more than a week later I am still waiting for my iBook. When I went to the Order Status page, it just says "Being Assembled". And it has been assembled since Monday! I was wondering whether they did start right from collecting the keys, paint the alphabets on them, as well as ringing up IBM to find a spare 900Mhz G3 750FX CPU. Another person on MacNN forum has already received his new iBook through a local dealer. Maybe this is what I should have done - go down to an AppleCentre and just pick up one there. I'm way to lazy...

Moreover, I need to wait for the RAM to turn up as well. I did not order extra RAM through Apple. Instead, I bought/ordered a 512Mb SO-DIMM from another company (for aroun $100 cheaper). However, it does not seem to have any stock at the moment. The same deal - ordered last week, got told that it is out of stock, but they will source it for me, and then never heard anything from them again. D'oh.
