Saw this on SMH this morning. I was shocked — they have finally got it right. Something that is historically true over the past 2,000 years. Here’s the link. :)
Scott Yang's Playground
No such thing as private on-line blog
And that’s what made this Blondie & Dagwood comic strip so funny. At the same time it is also the same dilemma that troubles many on-line diarists (let’s not call them “bloggers”), who always need to choose between “to write” or “not to write”.
Understanding RAID
If you are like me, who always forgot all the different configuration of RAID (Redundant array of independent/inexpensive disks), the following illustration should be very useful. It was sent to me at work. Original author unknown.
How to Fold a Shirt
The fast way to hold a shirt, sent to me by GD. The instruction is in Japanese though — can someone translate? It took a few times to see how it actually worked, and obviously need quite a bit of practise. Only worked with shirts with very short sleeves though, Vivian said, as she tested [...]
Linux Crashed on an Airbus 330
Photo of crashed application running on Linux on an Airbus 330 in the mid air. Yeah, that was the cute Tux in the photo. However I think I will freak out if I see Linux bootstrapping inside my in-flight entertainment centre.
The Simpsons Intro with Real Actors
You Tube: The Simpsons Intro scenes with real actors. Very funny (oh I miss watching that cartoon). And Marge is a bloody Volvo driver :)
Vi and Clippy
LD sent me this link: Vim and its clippy assistant. “It looks like you want to do some regular expressions. Do you need help with that?” Urrh. I am sure it will also freak me out when something like this jumped out from my trusted Vim. Even more freaky is that someone actually did implement [...]
Windows RG, the Really Good Edition
The next generation of Windows, the Really Good Edition, have everything you are familiar with, including the BSoD (SWF movie). Very funny. The only thing I haven’t managed to crash is Solitary, which I guess is one of the most tested application on everyone’s favourite operating system.
The Daily WTF
The Daily WTF — where people sending in really dodgy code pieces and have laugh, but some of them are actually not that funny, especially if you are also someone working on the same code base! Sometimes you just get to go “WTF?!“, start weeding and put the code into right shape.
Everybody loves Eric Raymond
Everybody loves Eric Raymond, a comic strip about the lives of ESR, RMS and LBT. Published weekly. Very very funny comic strip for Linux geeks by Linux geek. Or was that GNU/Linux?
Frustrated at Work
Last two weeks have been very busy at work, monitoring busy servers, debugging deadlocks, keeping the sites alive, and had little time left doing more development. Performance issue on some large customers is still persistent, but is hopefully getting better. Can’t wait for the holiday to Queensland next week. This is Scott at work. WARNING: [...]
Blogger Life Cycle
Min Jun Kim, a seasoned blogger, talked about different stages of being an on-line journalist. I’ve only be in temporary hiatus once or twice – so I guess I am only somewhere in the middle of the life cycle.
Grocery Store Wars
Grocery Store Wars – not long ago in a supermarket not so far away… Cucumber Skywalker, under the apprenticeship of Obi Wan Cannoli, must learn the way of Farm, fight the evil villian Lord Tader, and destroy the Death Watermelon. Very very funny.
Sixfoo! 660
Sixfoot! 660 is the social network of all social networks. Very funny playing a satire of Yahoo! 360.
Water on Mars
NASA has finally found water on Mars – with photo as evidence as well. I don’t care about that water, but can I have that Mars, please?
