I have also had problems with the mail looking like it is going but not appearing on gmail. Here are some of my tips. I am using a nonprofit google apps account so I had a different domain name.

1. I took out the [Gmail] on line 23
<code>
            self.folder = '[Gmail]/%s' % self.folder
becomes:
            self.folder = '%s' % self.folder
</code>

2. I found I had to create the labels before the script ran, otherwise the mail would not appear.

3. I believe putting the password in double quotes killed a few runs

4. This was timing out so I used nohup to keep it running.

So my line looks something like:

<code>
nohup python maildir2gmail.py -f "meeting_notes" -u btest@example.com -p gmail_password "Maildir/.meeting notes/cur"
</code>

Hi, very helpful site, many thanks from over here in Scotland. My D620 right hinge broke, I replaced them as a pair with ease.

After reading some of the previous posts, and replacing mine, could I just caution against using a lubricant such as WD40, unless you're sure the hinges really have seized up?

When you hold the new hinges in your hand, it is quite normal that you cannot open and close them. It is only once you have them in situ, and you have the additional leverage due to the laptop lid attached, that they are able to open and close. The last thing you want to do is make them loose and flexible before you even start.

Also, on my D620 the bottom part of the hinge (that sits inside the body of the laptop) is actually retained by 2 small screws, one at the rear of the laptop and one on the underside of it. Same on both Left and Right. So it does not just fall out by turning the base upside down.

Regards

I'm having a bit of a problem:

I'm hosting my own wordpress site on my own server. I want to use this python script on that server, but I can't figure out how to get the URL correct. I've tried localhost/xmlrpc.php, but I just get a 301 Moved Permanently error. I've also tried my actual dns/IP address, but it just times out. I also also tried giving it the absolute path to the xmlrpc.php file, but no such luck.

I'm running apache2 on an ubuntu server. I know everything is set up fine because I can use this script with the same config and post from a different network (using my dns/IP). Unfortunately, I need to be able to use this script on the same machine that the wordpress site is being hosted on. What's the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks!

Hi,

I tried running your script. It seems to execute OK, but like a few others that have previously posted, I don't see the emails in my gmail account.

I'm attempting to import the emails to my personal gmail account. It's not a gmail app / business account. Not sure if that makes a difference...

I see different people had success by editing some values in your script. I tried all permutations with no luck.

I used telnet-ssl to connect manually to the gmail imap server and execute the list command. Here's what I get...

* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Archived"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "INBOX"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Receipts"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Subscriptions"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Sun"
* LIST (\Noselect \HasChildren) "/" "[Gmail]"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/All Mail"
* LIST (\HasChildren \HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/Bin"
* LIST (\HasChildren \HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/Drafts"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/Important"
* LIST (\HasChildren \HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/Sent Mail"
* LIST (\HasChildren \HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/Spam"
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "[Gmail]/Starred"
a2 OK Success

Based on the information here, should I update the python script to get it to work?

If I try to import mails in a folder, must that folder already exists in my gmail account or will it be automatically created?

Any help appreciated...

This is one of the finest commentaries on a computer problem I've ever seen. Unfortunately I couldn't get the demo copy of the APDFR to work - i.e. it would hang whenever I tried to even preview the document. Because of this I wasn't willing to buy the program - especially at $140. However, Kedarnath's note was also VERY helpful - the Preview trick seemed to work well. (I have an Intel Mac and regularly use both PC and MAC sides! It was easy to switch from one side to the other.)

Thanks for the good information that was useful to me. Given that Dell no longer supplies these hinges I bought some on eBay. As far as I can see most eBay sites are selling the hinge sets (left and right) from the same manufacturer. I bought in Nov 2011 a pair for $2.96 plus $3.99 expedited shipping with 12 month warranty from "victoryduanshop".

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LCD-Hinges-set-14-1-Dell-Latitude-D500-D600-/230627429725?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b2774d5d

These arrived fine but were not that well made. On my left hinge, where the bottom part of the hingeis attached to the part that goes up alongside the lid there was a small crack in the the metal pressure-fitted joint. I hope that does not crack with use but no time to send them back for replacement ones! I finally got the hinges to fit after a little straightening of the two lowest brackets that attach the hinge to the lid. This is the part where the two copper grounding strips are attached. I also had to open up the holes in this part so that the screws would align. I had to use a drill in my Dremel tool to elongate the holes. The left hinge, which was the only one of mine that was broken, had more problems than the right hinge but I got it all to fit and work. Considering that this laptop is now 9 years old it is amazing that one can still buys parts. BUT if I was doing this again I would buy two pairs of hinge so that maybe I would get a left and right hinge that would be OK.

My new hinges were also stiff so I used lightweight sewing machine oil to lubricate. WD40 that others suggest you use to loosen stiff new hinges is ok but has no real residual lubrication value.
