I use gmail on my Nokia 5800. My experience:
- Gmail for 5800 is fine. It is a bit slow, but full access to address book in your gmail account. No push function or regular checking.
- Nokia's messaging is paid service now.
- Nokia's native email has problem with gmail. It does not update the new mails after 1-2 days. I delete the mail account and set up new one, but keep on occuring again and again. I have latest 5800 firmware update.
- I use emoze push mail service. It is fine, but the serve is down today. Too bad.
- Mobile documents push mail service - nice but very slow. And need continuous internet connection which cost money (i am using 30 hours/month data plan)

My verdict: Nokia does not have good email client to handle gmail. Too bad.

I reached the same conclusion: Gmail for mobile is better than the native Nokia mail. I also tries a browser shortcut but too clumsy. I am trying to sync Contatcs and I di experiemnt with an app from System SEVEN version 7 Beta Program. It may be worth trying.

I've used both IMAP and HTTP as alternatives to Gmail for Mobile, however both don't have the functionality I like.

As limited as it is, Gmail for Mobile is probably the best we are going to get on the S60 platform. It's disappointing though that Google don't seem to be actively developing it in any major way.
