Chinese New Year 2007

John Pasden: 10 reasons I hate Chinese New Year. Obviously it applies to only those who live in big metro city in China. Funny that we, the Mandarin Bible Fellowship, are going to watch the craptacular tomorrow at someone’s place, as it has been such a tradition in many Chinese’s life. Welcome the year of Pig.

Indeed. As hilarious as Lost in Translation and any other culture-crossing stories.

We (around 20 from MBF) went to Judy’s place to watch craptacular yesterday after church. You can certainly get the “spectacular” bit of the show — you are wondering how much government spent on these mega-shows. We’ve only watched first 30 minutes of it, but I don’t actually find myself enjoying it.

Two old (supposed to be popular) guys shouting at each other doing 相聲 (stand-up comedy) just feel a bit lacking in something which made it not as funny as I have hoped.

what he says is so true. I enjoyed chinese new year as a kid especially wait for the firecrackers. It just like world war 3 to some people. I don’t bother watch the show any more, it’s just not my style.
