Sin, Salvation, God and Man

Topic for today’s CBF talk is The Death of God, and Warwick de Jersey gave this interesting quote.

Sin is man substitutes himself for God.

Salvation is God substitutes himself for men.

How true! And yet it is so different from what most people today think about sin and salvation, where “sin” is people doing bad things toward each other, and “salvation” is how you earn your way to heaven…

In today’s talk Warwick also explored the idea of Jesus being both truly God and truly man so that the cross is demonstrating both his justice and love at the same time. He also quoted Anselm‘s Cur Deus Homo (Why God Became Man), which is also very interesting.
