Kerry Packer Dead

SMH: Kerry Packer, media magnate and Australia’s richest man, has died at home, age 68. That’s pretty young for a “peaceful death”, don’t you think? But then, he was announced dead for 6 minutes back in 1990, and has since suffered bad health. After all, whoever dies with the most toys, is still a dead man. No money can buy immortality. Gotta revise my Ecclesiastes on this one.

What tha? Young for a peaceful death? Um, it’s common knowledge people die of all ages, yep, some even peacefully. Eg. a 2 month old baby dies of cot death, simply goes to sleep and never wakes up. I think dying in your sleep is quite peaceful don’t you? Don’t be so judgemental, the man worked to get his wealth…. Try not watching to many movies, they can alter your judgement on things that you may not have had previously and you can get yourself into trouble with bad karma….

I think you read it wrong. Personally I do not know much about Mr. Packer — without looking up (Wikipedia) I do not even know that he has suffered bad health for the last decade or two. I have actually rebuked my own sentence by stating the fact that he was indeed ill which might has contributed to his death.

Yes, it is common knowledge that people die in all ages, however it is also common expectation that people live to their 70s and 80s to be described as “die in their old age”. Dying in your sleep might be peaceful to a third party, but if you ask Mr. Packer or that 2 month old baby, given a chance, would he choose to live or die? Death might be part of natural process, but to those who are facing it, it can feel very “unnatural”.

But my point is, this man might have worked hard to get his wealth. Then what? Still part of history. 12 months ago the newspaper was occupied with tsunami that caused death of hundred thousands. We don’t hear that anymore. Packer’s death has been on the front-page of SMH for the last few days, but what will we see in 12 months time? Moreover, will Kerry Packer care about it? No, because he is dead.

And sorry I don’t get your point on being judgemental and karma. Sorry if my opinion offends you.
