I have been studying this issue for some time now. I am not sure that the Majority Text is as unreliable as you say. Most of the MT is in agreement, and although some are later than the Alexandrian set of manuscripts, some date back as far as the 5th century. I am not against the Critical Text, but I do not think that it is necessary to throw out texts like Acts 8:37 just because the older set of manuscripts do not contain it. There are just as many skeptical arguments that could be brought up about the Critical Text, but I don't think that it is necessary. I think that it all depends on one's view of adding and taking away. I tend to trust the early scholars a little more than the modern scholars. Many of the scholars from years past could speak the ancient languages like it was their own. Also, I think that God's hand has protected the MT throughout the ages. It hasn't lost its relevance. As far as English texts, I like the NKJV. I like the ESV, but sometimes am disturbed by the deletions and alterations from the original meaning. God bless!

Cool! I've really come to appreciate the ESV and didn't know they had a blog. I also really like to see the TOC open to questions and answering them publicly. Thanks for the link!
