WordPress 2.0 has been released! Get the fresh meat here. I have actually been using WP.com, beta and RC for a while, so I can’t say that this release contains anything “surprising”. It actually runs slower on my various sites. Oh well, my sites should be upgraded to 2.0 sometime today, whereas sites on FOCUSer.net [...]
SMH: Kerry Packer, media magnate and Australia’s richest man, has died at home, age 68. That’s pretty young for a “peaceful death”, don’t you think? But then, he was announced dead for 6 minutes back in 1990, and has since suffered bad health. After all, whoever dies with the most toys, is still a dead [...]
Earlier this year I blogged about my brief experience with 43 Things, a social network that track goals and achievements. I have since abandoned the site due to procrastination, which was one of the few things that I was trying to overcome in 43 Things! But then I somehow remembered it today, dug out my [...]

Work folds around 4pm today — despite having a busy start. Office has been quite busy this week, according to our help desk guys, as our clients are busy generating their reports for their clients. On the development side, I think the load of work will continue to stress me until probably end of Feb, [...]

The Server Side reports Caucho adds PHP support to Resin to allow it to run up to 6 times faster. It is done by compiling PHP into Java bytecode so that it can be executed in highly optimised Java virtual machines. From this comment, Quercus (the PHP module for Resin application server) actually implemented most [...]
In MBF review last month, my group was responsible to review “Story of Kingdom”, a series of biblical theology seminars that we did on Fridays in session 2. However, for some reason I was the only one in the bible study group that can do the review on that day, so I ended up scribbling [...]
Chinese are generally kiasi, i.e. 怕死 in Hokkien, “fear of death”. Not necessarily afraid of trying out new things, as “kiasi” is usually accustomed to, but the fact that people can sometimes shun away from activities because there exists tiny possibility (if at all) where a disease or even death might occur.

Ryan has announced the availability of WordPress 2.0RC3 on their developer blog. Matt has also hinted the up-coming 2.0 release to be on either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the phrase of the moon. So there you go — I downloaded the latest WP RC, unpack the tarball, run the upgrade script, and bingo! Fucoder.com [...]

One of the most annoying things in Australia is their flies. They are everywhere in a hot windy summer. I am actually fine if they are just flying around in their own course. However most of the time they would decide to park on my body to take a break. Showing them that they are [...]

In the very last talk Al Stewart gave to the City Bible Forum a few weeks ago, we look at Luke 17:1-10, the passage on forgiveness. He started with an interview between Andrew Denton and Mark Latham on how Latham felt he has been wronged by Gough Whitlam. When Denton asked about his future relationship [...]

tabo: Django, Or why I chose it over turbogears and ruby on rails. That was pretty much what I have been through. I was also at a stage deciding on a frame work for a new project. While I have done most of freelance web development on PHP previously, as a Python developer of almost [...]

Looking at what has happened to Sydney over the last couple of days — the violence, the riots, the racial conflicts, the abusement over women and children — it has truly been sickening. It is not the kind of day where you’ll feel proud to be an Aussie. And this “mateship” where every true blue [...]

As you can see, writing on this blog has been sparse over the last week. Not just this blog, but pretty much my activity on the Internet has been severely reduced. My Bloglines unread items constantly hangs around 1,000+, and I have not written for FuCoder for almost 3 weeks! Here’s some update for this [...]

It is futile to use those optical disc as a long term data storage solution. They might be great for holding large amount of data cheaply — be it 700Mb for CD-R, 4+Gb for DVD-R or more when you add in acronyms like DL or HD. However, all of them stuff up over time. You [...]
